Indie folk from Wadawurrung Country.

Music and news from Ben Birchall, an indie-folk singer/songwriter who has done time in Klinger, Duke Batavia, Ben Birchall & The Corrections and Slow Fades. Inspired by the likes of CSNY, Joni, Bob, Neil and Beck, Ben is now playing shows with his family band and releasing an album in 2025.

Feat. Ben Birchall

We’ve finally collected songs from Ben’s various projects – Klinger, The Corrections, Slow Fades as well as some rarities and even a harmonica solo. Obviously.

Now streaming.

After being unavailable for over a decade, Ben’s solo debut is streaming again.

Go on, relive Year of the Monkey.

Klinger return with double a-side single.

20 years after their last new release, Klinger return with two new slabs of indie pop glory. “400 Weeks/The Wrong Way” is available now in a very limited run of 100 copies pressed on beautiful translucent blue vinyl. Only available at shows, so get along and pick one up.

Big Delicious ‘A Little Merry’ released.

'A Little Merry' is a bittersweet heartbreaker in the tradition of 'How To Make Gravy'. Fronted by Ben Birchall, this alt-country vignette sees a recently separated Dad trying to convince himself he doesn't care about spending Christmas morning alone. 'A Little Merry' is the second single from Big Delicious' forthcoming debut album, due 2024.

Last Ditch Brigade Re-Release.

Released on Cavalier/Shock in 2008, but unavailable to stream for the last 5 years, Last Ditch Brigade almost…almost qualifies as a lost classic. Recorded by Matt Maddock (Something For Kate) at Sing Sing South, Cavalier Studios and above a Chinese restaurant in Brunswick, it’s the definitive record of the Corrections, a band that were hastily assembled to tour Ben’s solo EP and accidentally became an inspired, tight unit.

Unreleased Klinger track sees light of day.

Facebook group-turned cultural phenomenon-turned record label Sound As Ever is doing an amazing job of reconnecting audiences to Australian indie music of the 1990s. Their next compilation is out real soon, and features a Klinger song recorded in 1998 - The Finish Line (And When To Cross It). Remastered in all its wonky glory, it holds its own along such indie luminaries as Moler, Rail and The Mavis’s.

“While the name on the marquee might be different to what diehard fans would have been used, Slow Fades music undeniably feels very much like a continuation of Klinger, and shows a matured and evolved band that couple literate lyrics with some very impressive musicianship.”
